Child Care
Level 2 First Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development
This is a vocational qualification which has been developed to support the children's care, learning and development sector.
The course will cover three main units:
Unit 1: Understanding Children's development (this requires 30 hours of work placement, which will take place during the two weeks work experience at the end of year ten)
Unit 2: Keeping children safe
Unit 3: Communication with Children and Adults (this requires a further 30 hours of work placement)
The course is assessed by the subject teacher and externally moderated. There is no final written paper.
A pass in this subject, although not an official GCSE, is the equivalent of 2 GCSE grade C passes. Students, who are willing to work hard, will have the opportunity to achieve the equivalent of 2 A* grades at GCSE level.
This is an exciting new course for Flint High School.
