Healthy School

Healthy School

We believe in promoting healthy lifestyles and attitudes in all our students; this includes emotional well-being as well as keeping active and eating healthily.

Students can access help and support in many ways:-

  1. Counselling service    - self referral and referral by a Learning Manager
  2. Peer mediation service - the Green Room has now become Hafan, where students can drop-in and speak to other students who are trained in helping them solve problems
  3. School Nurse  - every Thursday drop-in at lunch time - the Nurse''s office is by the quad between the Languages Corridor and Art

To keep fit, students can use the astro-turf at breaks and lunchtimes and of course attend one of the many after school clubs organised by the PE department and 5x60 officer, Miss Bethan Roberts.   Basketball, too, is on offer- we are lucky to have a trained basketball coach on our staff and our teams are doing very well in competitions.  Did you know that Flint High School students do more regular exercise than other Flintshire students??    A recent survey proved it!

And finally ....  in the canteen, students are able always to have a healthier option ... a salad, fruit, soup etc The menu is very varied and good value.

Flint High School is well on the way to gaining the Healthy Schools Quality Mark.
