Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care at Flint High School
Every Child Matters
To understand students we need to know them. Pastoral care means listening, supporting and encouraging young people in many different ways. A student's wellbeing is at the core of successful learning.
People make pastoral care work at Flint High School
- Every student has a form tutor
- All staff are trained to make sure that students are safe, healthy and happy
- Each year group has a Learning Manager who is responsible for student care and academic success
- The school has an Assistant Headteacher whose role is to make sure that the pastoral system works for all students
- The Headteacher, Mrs McClean and the Deputy Designate, Miss Crich, are also there if you need some help with a pastoral matter
- Mrs Teasdale-Jones runs our Personal Social Health Education programme
- Mrs Chatfield and her team make sure that students access behaviour management or emotional support if things go wrong at home or at school.
We believe that all students have a person they can turn to if they need extra support. Pastoral care can be about handing out the tissues, lending a sympathetic ear or providing a stiff talking to if a student is not reaching his/her potential.
Our message to parents is - let us know
If things at home are difficult and your child needs some support tell us so that we can respond in the right way. If there is a problem in school please talk to us so that we can put things right.
