FLINT HIGH SCHOOL CELEBRATES RECORD RESULTS
Message from Mrs McClean, Headteacher.
Our 6th formers are celebrating their A-level success with 100% pass rate and 72% grades A-C. We congratulate them on the culmination of two years'' dedication and hard work. Most of our 6th formers have decided upon the next stage in their academic year and you can see from the list below where and what our students have chosen to study. We are very pleased that despite the high demand and stiff competition, all of our students who want to continue at university and college have secured a place. Aaron Evans did not know what he was going to do until he got his good results. He went through clearing and will be studying at Bangor University.
Our top achievers are:-
- Hannah Jones
- Rebecca Salmon
- Aaron Evans
- Andrew Williams
- Catherine Hough
- Faye Harvey
- Megan Conway

Year 11
We are delighted with our students'' marvellous GCSE and equivalent success this year. 75% achieved 5A*-C at GCSE and equivalent, a fantastic increase of 21% since last year. 5 A*-C results including English and Maths have improved by 12%, which is a remarkable 24% improvement over three years.
In 2008 we christened this year group ''Our Golden Year'' and they have exceeded all our expectations. We are celebrating excellent results in Maths (64%) English (63%) and Science( 88% - which includes Btec) and a significant improvement in our A* and A grades. The boys have done much better this year and have narrowed the gap between their performance and that of the girls; Their 5A*-C plus English and Maths have gine up by 20% in a year. Well done!

We are very pleased that two students from Ysgol Maes Hyfryd were successful in their Btec Art. Olivia Burgon, who gained a Merit, Naomi Donaldson and Chantal Font joined the Flint High School Art class and now intend to stay in the 6th form to study Art and Design at Level 3. The way that they have integrated into lessons, with help and support from Mrs Janice Jones from YMH, goes to show just how well the two schools and staff are working together. Mrs Turner, our Art and Design teacher, is looking forward to teaching the course. Michaella Mazzone will be joining them. She achieved a remarkable star distinction - a first for Flint High.
Jodie Angell and Hannah Hulley only joined our school in Year 11, which can be a challenge settling in and adapting to new courses. Both girls did themselves proud by gaining higher grade passes.
Congratulations to staff and students on their hard work and determination and of course thanks to our parents for their valued support. Some of our new Year 11 students also collected their results; in full course Welsh, 90% of the grades were A* and A. We are looking forward to celebrating their success next year.
